Tanknarok is a fast-paced arcade tank action game in which you drive a tank in combat with up to three friends. Despite the tank theme, this isn't a military simulator: it's a cartoony action game full of colorful landscapes, huge explosions, and ridiculous power-ups.

Tanknarok evokes classic tank shooters like Namco's Tank Battalion or modern descendants like Panzer Shoot. The top-down twin-stick shooter action style resembles the gameplay of Halo: Spartan Assault. Matches are seldom more than a few minutes, and tanks have high rates of fire, giving the game a feeling of chaotic action.

Tanknarok features eight different game modes, each of which provides additional objectives that add to the main goal of blasting other players. For instance, in Crown Chase, players compete for a crown, which makes the player holding it a target for all the others. Other game modes, such as Time Attack or Last Tank Standing, determine the match's victory conditions.

In addition to varied game modes, players compete across more than 90 arenas. These not only add varied terrain to move around, but they also add hazards to the map, such as spinning heat beams and electric barriers.
